Just when many thought the Brooklyn Nets would struggle without Kevin Durant on the court, the rest of the team leveled up and showed that they are more than the 2x NBA champion, winning big games and showing a lot of character when it matters the most.

Kyrie Irving never hesitated to take the reins of this team, and the point guard is doing a terrific job. The Nets clashed against their city rivals New York Knicks, with Ky once again taking over, showing the lead against a Knicks team that didn’t have an answer for the 2016 NBA champion.

Following the match, Irving revealed how he feels whenever he goes against the Knicks, a team that tried to sign him in 2019, but the point guard decided to team up with Kevin Durant in Brooklyn.

Kyrie Irving Shares His Real Feelings On New York Knicks After Nets Beat Their Neighbors

Besides downplaying any rivalry between his team and the Knicks, Kyrie took a little jab at the Knicks, expressing how much he enjoys defeating this team. He recalled his days growing up, saying that it hits differently when he faces Saturday’s rivals.

“This is a different feeling for me because I grew up in New York, New Jersey,” said Irving on playing against the Knicks. “So I’ve you know watched plenty of series being down in my den at my best friend’s house. Whether watching the game with my father or his father or watching the game and my father just admiring the guys playing at Madison Square Garden, the Continental Airlines Arena.”

“So for me, I love beating the Knicks and playing against them. But all in all, it’s just about the objective, which is winning the ball game. Nothing personal.”

This is a big thing for Kyrie, who was once coveted by the Knicks, but he decided to join their crosstown rivals. Now, Kyrie takes it personally whenever he goes against the Knicks, and we can’t blame him. These two teams have given us very entertaining games recently, and Irving is ready to beat them every time they face off.
