LeBron James is in the latter stages of his long NBA career, but he is still playing elite basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers. As of right now, he’s averaging 28.5 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 6.6 APG.

There is no doubt that the numbers LeBron James is putting up right now are virtually unprecedented, and his longevity is insane. He is still a clear top-10 player in the league.

As a result of his elite performances, a Reddit user posted a question about whether the current version of LeBron James is better than the peak version of Carmelo Anthony. This was a one-sided query, as most people seem to believe LeBron James is better now than Carmelo Anthony ever was.

The disrespect to Melo is crazy but probably Lebron

I mean probably Lebron for his ability to be both a facilitator and scorer but people got to consider stats 10+ years ago versus now

i’m a hater and i’m taking bron lol

Only time im taking carmelo is olympic’s carmelo

LeBron, saw him a live a week or two ago and it was like watching a globetrotter play with the Washington generals.

I absolutely love melo and he will always be my favourite player but lebron clears. Tbf that’s not a knock on melo, current Lebron is better than most players’ prime.

LeBron. Honestly. I think people underestimate how good LeBron still is because he is on a fairly trash team.

This isn’t even close every version of lebron from 2004-onwards is better than prime Melo

I watched prime Melo and this LeBron destroys him

How quickly people forget. I really can’t take this sub anymore. Lebron any day

Prime Melo avearaged about 28/7/4 So hes defintelly a top 20 guy .No doubt.Lebron is still a little better than that however.

Lebron. He’s still better than Prime Melo at this stage in both defense, slashing/driving, ball handling and facilitating. Quite similar at rebounding, Melo is the better shooter but that may be it.

Prime Melo never averaged 29-8-7, much less shoot 50% from the floor. His career high in apg is 4.2 lol.

I cannot believe this is even a question. The highest of Melo’s prime won’t compare to Lebron’s down side. Come on!

Lebron is currently a better scorer than Carmelo ever was. Come at me.

There’s definitely an argument for LeBron James being better now than Carmelo Anthony was in his prime, but, it is clear that a lot of people underrate Carmelo Anthony. During his time with the Denver Nuggets, he managed to lead them to a Western Conference Finals appearance and was a legitimately elite three-level scorer in his prime. Hopefully, we see him get more respect in the future, and a lot of people still don’t realize how great Carmelo Anthony was as an individual player.

LeBron James Could Get Traded By The Lakers

Ever since LeBron James’ comments about his desire to win championships, many people have theorized that the superstar could end up on another franchise in the future. In fact, an NBA analyst has already stated that he expects LeBron James to be traded in the upcoming offseason.

Let’s face it: LeBron James’s decision to extend his contract with the Lakers was a mistake. It was a mistake for James, who doesn’t need the guaranteed cash, pushing his deal through 2023–24 limited his leverage. It was also a mistake for L.A., which didn’t have the pieces to build a title contender around James and (this season, anyway) doesn’t have the flexibility to do anything with him.

In an ideal world, the Lakers use the cap space created by Russell Westbrook’s exit next summer to sign Kyrie Irving or Draymond Green, flip a draft pick or two and vault back into contention next season. But if that doesn’t happen, can the Lakers really go into 2023 with James, Anthony Davis and whatever group of castoffs they can assemble around them? Would James want to? Dealing James would take some chutzpah, but if L.A. whiffs on big-ticket items next offseason, is there really a better choice?

Many people believe that the Los Angeles Lakers should trade LeBron James, as that would let him go to a contending team while also netting the Los Angeles Lakers a solid return.

With that being said, the Los Angeles Lakers have shown no indication that they will trade LeBron James thus far. Hopefully, they manage to improve as a team in the future and put a solid squad around the aging superstar.
