The New Orleans Pelicans stay atop the Western Conference standings after securing a big win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night. The Pels are surprising a lot of people this season, and that doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon.

This team is very entertaining to watch, and the things they do on the court are really cool. They have a good mix of youth and experience, which makes them a real threat to the rest of the conference.

On top of that, they have a superstar in the making in Zion Williamson, who is more than capable of leading this team to the promised land. Williamson spent a couple of seasons trying to find his identity and dealing with injuries, and now that he’s ready, the Pelicans are competing at the top of the West.

CJ McCollum Knew Pelicans Needed To Feed Zion To Win The Game

The most recent display of this happened on Wednesday night, when the former No. 1 overall draft pick took over against the Minnesota Timberwolves, scoring the team’s final 14 points. He finished the game with 43, sending a big message to his rivals.

Following the match, CJ McCollum was asked about the Pelicans’ game plan to beat the T-Wolves, and his response was just incredible. The former Portland Trail Blazers point guard simply said that they tried to get the ball to Zion and let him do his thing against Minnesota.

CJ McCollum: “We really had diverse play calling down the stretch. Give the ball to Z and get the fuck out of the way.”

“We really had diverse play calling down the stretch. Give the ball to [Zion Williamson] and get the f**k out of the way.”

The NBA has seen incredible performances in the past week. Starting with Nikola Jokic dominating the Phoenix Suns on Christmas, Luka Doncic posting a 60-point triple-double, and now Zion scoring 43 points on the Minnesota Timberwolves, the future faces of the league are ready to dominate. Williamson added 3 rebounds and 5 assists to his stat sheet, leading the Pels to a win that keeps them seeing everybody from the top of the standings.
