The Boston Celtics have been through consecutive losses now, and their incredible run to start the season has faltered just a little. That is to take nothing away from them, though, the Celtics have been the best team in the league this season. A large part of this has been down to their stars, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have both been balling out of their mind recently.

The fact that they have done so well is even more impressive, considering everything the team dealt with earlier in the season. Ime Udoka, the Head Coach that took them to the NBA Finals last season, was suspended after a controversy involving an affair with a franchise staffer. Even at the time, there was not a lot of information about what exactly had occurred, and Jayson Tatum spoke about this to The Athletic.

“Uh, it was confusing. Even to this day, there’s so much that — I guess for legal reasons — they can’t explain. So it’s like a vague situation, and there’s a lot of things they felt like they couldn’t say. So it kind of left a lot of us in the dark. You see things on the internet. You don’t know what is true, what’s not true, what to believe. It’s just an unfortunate situation.”

After Udoka’s suspension was announced, Joe Mazzulla took over the reins as the coach, and the Celtics look like they’ve somehow gotten better. Understandably, people have wondered how that has been possible.

The fact that this came out just before the season began must have thrown a lot of the Boston Celtics‘ plans awry. The roster is stacked, though, and Mazzulla has been good, too, helping them stay on course. It hasn’t been easy at all, though, as Tatum also explained in the same interview.

“Extremely frustrating, because you had this mindset of how we’re going to approach the season, how we’re gonna start, and then now we don’t have our head coach, somebody that I give a lot of credit to. He helped us get to that point, got us playing together, playing better.

“Ime deserves as much credit as anybody. Ime deserves a lot of credit for how he got us playing, and Joe has stepped up and found his own voice and obviously has got us rolling now. But I feel like Ime, especially last year, righted the ship to get us playing the right way.”

It seems that the Celtics’ superstar still has a lot of love and respect for Udoka, which is understandable. The fact that Ime Udoka‘s influence was so great also became evident by the fact that he also almost landed a big job while being suspended. What the future holds for the disgraced coach is a mystery, but the Celtics seem to have gotten stronger from the entire ordeal.
