Stephen Curry Reveals What The Joe Biden’s Administration Told Him About Brittney Griner’s Imprisonment In Russia: “Don’t Say Anything”

What did the Joe Biden administration say to Stephen Curry when he inquired about Brittney Griner's imprisonment?

Stephen Curry is arguably one of the most conscientious NBA superstars of all time. It is easy to reach a position of generational wealth and abandon a lot of the things one believes in to ensure no feathers are being ruffled. However, as Curry’s status in basketball and the world has grown, he has started taking a lot more action while talking about social change. But even a man as powerful as Curry can be helpless in certain situations.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Curry made big revelations like how he was open to playing with Kevin Durant again. However, the biggest had to be about the fact that the current US presidential administration declined his help in freeing American basketball player Brittney Griner and told him to ‘not say anything’.

“Amid Russian prisoner-swap negotiations for the wrongfully detained WNBA superstar Brittney Griner, Curry says his contacts in the Biden administration rebuffed an offer to help (“They were telling us, ‘Don’t say anything’ ”), so he prioritized airtime for Griner while hosting this summer’s ESPY Awards and wore her jersey onstage.” (h/t Rolling Stone)

Brittney Griner: Stephen Curry’s Attempts At Bringing Attention To her

Even though Curry couldn’t directly aid in freeing Griner, he has been spreading the message about the same whenever he can. He has previously spoken out about Griner and openly said that she needs to come home. Other NBA players have also joined in, with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving having a very active voice.

The politics of the situation are beyond the control of any citizen, even if the citizen is someone like Curry. Hopefully, the Joe Biden government can make something work and bring the talented basketball player back to America and not be held captive by Russia at a time when tensions with Russia are at an all-time high.
