LeBron James is an absolute freak of nature in the best ways, the things he can do, no one else has even come close to. The King works incredibly hard to maintain his health and his body, and it has produced fantastic results. LeBron is entering his 20th season in the league, and he still looks very much like one of the best players in the NBA and showing no signs of slowing down just yet.

A lot of fans and analysts alike have marveled at his almost freakish ability to stay healthy; LeBron has rarely missed games through injury in his career. In fact, in all his years in the league, he has played more than half the season on every occasion and played less than 50 games just once. While luck is a factor, keeping his body conditioned and ready is just as important, and James has been amazing at it.

However, one cannot play at the highest level for as long as LeBron has without picking up some wear and tear, and the King has suffered from some hurts to his person.

LeBron James Told The Stories Behind The Two Scars He Has

In 2017, the King spoke to GQ magazine, talking about a variety of things while he was still with the Cleveland Cavaliers. And in that interview, he mentioned the stories behind the two scars on his head.

GQ: “How’d you get those scars on the back of your head?”

LeBron James: “One, I got elbowed.”

GQ: “In a basketball game?”

LBJ: “In practice, when I was in Miami.”

GQ: “Really?! By who? I bet they were nervous.”

LBJ: “Yeah, they were! I won’t say who it was, though. My own teammate elbowed me.… Sixteen [stitches] across the back.”

GQ: “The other scar?”

LBJ: “During the Finals I fell into a camera, against Golden State. The first time we played them.”

GQ: “Did you have any stitches then?”

LBJ: “No, I actually—this was just glue. It was going to be stapled, but I told them, ‘Don’t f**king staple my head.’ And they put in the glue, and it didn’t heal right. We kept this one under wraps, though.”

GQ: “Why?”

LBJ: “Because we don’t talk about injuries. I don’t talk about injuries.”

If not talking about injuries helps you avoid them, then LeBron James has certainly managed to hack the system. Whatever it is that works for him, though, it’s what has allowed him to enter the GOAT conversation and establish his case. Hopefully, James can stay healthy for a long time to come, so NBA fans don’t have to stop enjoying his greatness just yet.
