Coming into the league via the 2011 NBA Draft, Kyrie Irving was selected with the first overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers. In just a few years, Irving proved that he was one of the best players in his position and was here to stay in the NBA for a long time.

He also helped LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in winning the 2016 NBA Championship. But since then, it seems like Kyrie’s career has been spiraling downwards.

He is still one of the most enjoyable players to watch in the NBA. Kyrie has everything in his skill set that a player in his position could ask for. However, over the last few years, Kai hasn’t played a lot of games.

On top of that, for the teams that he has played for, he has caused a lot of trouble. In fact, just a few weeks ago, he was believed to be on his way out of the Brooklyn Nets.

Kyrie has seemingly become a locker room problem, and a report also suggested that there were very few people within the organization who trusted him.

Kyrie Irving Wants To Prove That He Is A Team Player

With time, a narrative started to emerge that Kyrie Irving was not a team player. Wherever he goes, he only causes problems. So heading into the 2022-23 NBA season, how Kyrie will adjust to the team is one of the biggest questions being asked around.

Well, there’s no way that these voices didn’t reach Kyrie, and he finally decided to address them while giving hope to the Nets fanbase.

(Starts at 5:00):

“Now of course the last few years I couldn’t play every game and be a part of everything. Now I’m dancing with this ‘stigma’ over my career. Is it a real ‘stigma’? That I don’t like to work or I don’t like to be in team activities or I don’t like to do this? Nah, nah, nah. The basketball aspect will take care of itself and I know that because I’m taking care of everything else that will help it flourish.”

While Kai didn’t take a name when addressing his critics, it seemed like a shot at everyone who doubted him over the past few years.

Irving seems confident in his skills and looks like he wants to prove that he is still one of the best players in the NBA. But can he stay away from the drama? We will find out when the new season begins.
