Tracy McGrady Sarcastically Invites Rudy Gobert To Work On His Offense: “Come To My Lab Please”

Rudy Gobert is one of the best defensive players in the league. Perhaps the best rim protector in the league, Gobert, had been the heart of Utah Jazz’s defense for multiple seasons. Be it his rebounding, his blocks, or else, 3 DPOY trophies speak for themselves.

After three disappointing playoff performances in a row, it was pretty clear that the Jazz needed a change. Given that the team had become stagnant, the Jazz made the tough decision of letting go of their superstars. The 3-time DPOY was finally traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves and now will play alongside former All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns in the West.

While there is no doubt that Gobert is one of the best defenders in the league, his offensive skills can surely be improved. Not the best post player or the best at three-point shooting, the Frenchman has many holes in his offense.

Right before his trade, 2-time scoring champion Tracy McGrady roasted the 30-year-old for his lack of attacking skills. Recently, McGrady added insult to injury, sarcastically commenting on a post,

“Come to my lab. PLEASE”

While there is no doubting that Gobert surely could use some tips from a former offensive juggernaut like McGrady, he might not need much of it in Minnesota. Given that the team already has two of the most exciting offensive talents like KAT and Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves do not have a dearth of talent offensively.

Meanwhile, Gobert’s defensive talents will be a much bigger help for the Timberwolves. While KAT has developed into a lethal offensive talent, his shot-blocking skills are sketchy at best.

The Frenchman should perfectly fill in the role of the rim protector on the team. But he will need some efficient perimeter defenders to supplement his talents. Utah struggled in the playoffs with Gobert having to cover for the team’s lack of perimeter defense. This led to easy baskets for the opposition, resulting in disappointing losses. Can the Timberwolves learn from Utah’s mistakes?
