LeBron James Says He Can Play For A Long Time If His Mind Stays Motivated: “The Sky’s Not Even A Limit For Me.”

LeBron James recently gave an interview that had some really interesting insights into his future. A Sports Illustrated cover with his sons Bronny and Bryce was followed up by the interview, and Bron went on to say that his desire to play with his sons means that he pays close attention to which franchises have draft picks in the first round in the coming years, from 2024 to 2027.

It has been no secret that James wishes to play with his son Bronny, but the revelation that he also wants to play alongside Bryce, his younger son, is an interesting one. LeBron is going into his 20th season in the NBA at 37, and at that age, most players are showing signs of decline and look close to retirement. Not James, though, even his fellow players know that Bron isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

And the King himself addressed this in the interview, talking about what it would take for him to continue playing at the highest level for many more years. What was startling and amazing about his revelation was that LeBron thinks that he can play for a lot more seasons in the NBA, not just a few.

“I feel like I could play for quite a while. So it’s all up to my body, but more importantly, my mind. If my mind can stay sharp and fresh and motivated, then the sky’s not even a limit for me. I can go beyond that. But we shall see.”

The mentality is a huge factor when it comes to situations like these, believing that you can still contribute at the highest level is half the battle. That LeBron feels like his body can withstand the rigors of professional basketball into his 40s is also telling; the King knows exactly how naturally gifted he is. And there is a very real goal to pursue alongside playing next to his sons in the coming seasons.

Despite LeBron’s many accomplishments, most people still consider Michael Jordan to be the greatest of all time. And a large part of this argument boils down to the fact that MJ won 6 titles, and James has only managed 4. So the pursuit of those rings will keep LeBron hungry for success as long as he is able to play. Furthermore, he could also take the NBA’s scoring record to new heights if and when he crosses Kareem, so it’s safe to say that we haven’t seen the last of LeBron just yet.
