There is a lot to love about being a rich and famous athlete. They get privileges that the ordinary person can only dream of and get treated like royalty by the public too, but there is one thing that they do miss out on, which is some privacy.
Especially in this social media age that we live in, these guys aren’t afforded a moment’s peace when they step out in a public space as everything gets uploaded online. LaMelo Ball, unfortunately, found himself in that situation recently, as a fan filmed him as he was loading up some groceries into his car. Ball was clearly uncomfortable as the man kept recording him and NBA fans were not happy with that kind of behavior.

“Some grown men as weird as hell “
“I will never understand why he mindlessly holds his phone recording instead of just saying whats up dap melo up and keep it moving like why do people live through they phones you can have a memory that you dont need recorded people want to flex for everything”
“Can’t even do normal people things”
“Bro didn’t know when to stop “
“Must be mad annoying tryna do basic sh*t like grocery shopping and people shoving a phone in your face recording the whole time, if you meet a celeb you can enjoy the moment without having to record everything”
“I’d never condone bothering a celeb like this, but also if you drive a rainbow iridescent Ferrari to Target and park on the sidewalk to load the groceries, I bet this kind of thing might be pretty common.”
“Fans have no concept of space. I’ve ran into players and left them the hell alone when they were with their wife and kids.”
“Just say wassup and keep it moving I’ve met multiple athletes said wassup dapped them up and kept it moving “
“Not the car to be driving if you don’t want to be bothered.”
“Man didn’t run into melo he ran up on melo”
“bro just wanted to get some groceries for his family man”
“Clearly he doesnt want to talk to the guy… just awkward.. let the rich people do their thing and move on.”
“some of y’all don’t know how to act in real life, y’all on the internet 24/7”
“Bro let the kid run his errands in peace, man.”
“Camera man is such a loser”
“Guy recording seems super annoying”
“How do you not feel weird doing that lol”
“This sh*t is damn cringe”
“This is why we can’t have nice things in charlotte”
“I’m ngl, bro recording had to feel crazy watching this back”
As some point out, going around in that car is probably not the thing to do if you do not want to be noticed, but that doesn’t justify the man’s actions. The respectful thing to do in that situation is to just walk away after the initial interaction and not make things extremely awkward.
Anyone would be uncomfortable in that situation, even a people person like LaMelo, who has previously engaged with fans. If you respect their personal space, then they will, more often than not, interact positively with you as well, a concept that not many seem to understand.
