Team USA is perhaps the biggest powerhouse in basketball. With arguably the best talents available at their disposal, team USA often dominates global events, like the Olympics and the FIBA World Championships.

With superstars like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Jordan leading the teams, it is easy to see why. Winning the gold medal in seven of the last eight Olympics, it is easy to see why team USA is a superpower in basketball.

While the record from 1992 could have been flawless, there is one Olympics campaign where the USA had an embarrassing performance. In the 2004 Athens Olympics, the team sent superstars like Allen Iverson and Tim Duncan along with sophomore talents like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony to the Olympics. While the side was still the favorites, there were some notable absentees, including the likes of Kobe Bryant. The team faltered under expectations, suffering an embarrassing defeat to Argentina in the semifinals, and ultimately settled for the Bronze medal.

But the loss didn’t bode well with fans, and the team had to do something about the loss. For the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Team USA was not messing around. Sending superstars like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade, team USA, was on a mission. With 11 All-Stars on the roster, the team looked unstoppable on the court.

Winning all their group stage games in blowouts, the team cruised through to the playoffs. After a comfortable win against Australia, the team was up against defending champions Argentina. This time, Kobe and Co. had the last laugh winning the game by 20 points. In the Final, despite Spain’s best efforts, team USA was ultimately victorious, regaining the gold medal for the country. Given how this team brought back the country’s lost glory, it was fitting that the team was named the Redeem Team.

Recently it was announced that Netflix, along with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, is set to release a new documentary on the Redeem team on October 7th.

Netflix and the International Olympic Committee have collaborated with executive producers @DwyaneWade and @KingJames for The Redeem Team, a new documentary about the US Olympic Men's Basketball Team’s quest for gold at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing!

LeBron James recently hyped up his upcoming project on his social media.

This documentary certainly has the potential to be a banger of a project for NBA fans. Given that the team was filled with superstars like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, who participated in the 2004 Olympics, it will be interesting to see how they ultimately redeemed themselves with this victory.

Fans will also get to see Kobe Bryant and how he spearheaded the team to a tournament win. Not only that, but we will also see NBA stars, who are often rivals in the league, play with one another. What are your expectations from this project?
