Bradley Beal Feels Confident That He Can Win With Wizards: “Winning A Championship Here Would Mean The World To Me. That Would Mean More Than Up, Leaving, And Playing With Four Other All-Stars.”

After several months of speculation regarding his future in the league, Bradley Beal decided to stay put in Washington and re-sign with the Wizards on a five-year, $251 million contract extension that will have the only true no-trade clause in the entire NBA.

This decision raised many eyebrows around the league since Beal looked uncomfortable with his team at times, especially when they couldn’t get wins. The Wizards are anything but a contender in the Eastern Conference, yet Beal insists on staying with them. After many months where several teams appeared to be his new destination, the shooting guard is running it back in D.C., but nobody thinks he’ll be successful there.

Still, that doesn’t matter to Beal, who is confident he can build something good in Washington and take his squad to the promised land. Talking with reporters, Beal made it clear that he plans to win with the Wizards while taking shots at his critics.

“It’s never going to stop. Next thing y’all will be talking about it is, ‘oh, when is he going to lift his clause?'”

He’s pretty confident that he can achieve big things in Washington, saying that it’ll be more valuable to him to win with a team like the Wizards than to go to a different team and join forces with other All-Stars to have an easier path.

“Winning a championship here would mean the world to me. That would mean more than up, leaving, and playing with four other All-Stars. I firmly believe in my heart that I can win here.”

“The only thing I have to prove is I’m a winner. That’s it. I have to win.”

He has to win indeed, but his chances to do so, with the current Wizards’ roster, are very limited. Bradley must be aware of that, and knowing the type of contract he’s getting, it’ll be harder for his team to assemble a competitive team. Still, he believes that the Wizards can shock the world and win the NBA championship, but it’s highly unlikely that he will pull that off.
