The Boston Celtics are down 2-3 in the 2022 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors. Tonight, they’ll have a big opportunity to force a Game 7 at home by beating the Dubs. In order to do so, they’ll need everybody ready to go to war, even if that means players playing through injuries.
That’s the case of Robert Williams III, who has dominated the Warriors in the paint at times. The young big man isn’t fully healthy, though, and the Celtics are making desperate decisions to keep him on the court as much as possible. This situation has raised many eyebrows around the league, and one former Celtic had something to say about it.
Isaiah Thomas was a very important player for the Celtics for a couple of seasons, taking them to the NBA playoffs, reaching an All-Star level with his game, and even becoming an MVP candidate during that process.
However, after the C’s decided to make him play even when his hips were injured, everything changed for Thomas, whose level decreased, and was never the same player he was from 2015 through 2017. Understandably, he had some things to share about Williams’ situation, taking a shot at the Celtics for using the same strategy they used with him.

“Heard that before lol,” Thomas quote-tweeted a report saying that the Celtics don’t think Williams’ injury will get worse if he keeps playing.
IT was the heart and soul of that team before Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown arrived, and it’s bad to see how his career went after his hips got hurt. He hasn’t been able to be in a stable situation and has played for several teams since he left the Celtics in 2017. This season, he joined the Dallas Mavericks before getting a contract with the Charlotte Hornets.
Thomas is still trying to find his way back to the league, and not everybody thinks he’ll make it. Well, this man has proven doubters wrong before, and that’s exactly what he’s trying to do now.
