Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison can’t escape the ‘Fire Nico’ chants even in San Antonio. Harrison was at Frost Bank Center on Monday for the Mavericks’ game against the San Antonio Spurs, and some fans began the chant when he walked by them.

Harrison probably didn’t imagine that his decision to trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers would lead to such chants breaking out at opposing arenas, too. This clip unsurprisingly went viral on social media, and NBA fans on Reddit had some interesting reactions to it.
“You know a trade is bad when the only safe place for you is your trade partner’s arena,” a fan stated that Harrison is only safe at Crypto.com Arena.
“I love that ‘Fire Nico’ chants are happening in 29 arenas and the one remaining arena chants ‘thank you Nico.’ You know that’s a bad trade,” another fan shared a similar sentiment.
“I hope he never escapes this,” one fan wants Harrison to get this treatment forever.
“I have to believe he has a humiliation fetish. Why else would you continue to go to games in person when youre the biggest pariah in sports,” one fan wildly stated that Harrison likes to be humiliated.
“He’s the living embodiment of the ‘he gets us’ commercials. Annoying AF, and everyone hates him but thinks he’s a pariah and right,” another fan thinks Harrison fancies himself to be a pariah.
“Love by LA, hate by many others. Nico is truly embracing his inner Kobe,” a fan hilariously stated that Harrison is just like Kobe Bryant now.
“This man really ruined his life with one decision. Brutal. I dont feel any sympathy for him whatsoever,” a fan has no sympathy for Harrison.
“This guy deserves more heat honestly,” a fan thinks Harrison deserves even more abuse from fans.
Safe to say that no one is feeling too bad for Harrison here. You struggle to imagine the last time a GM managed to anger 29 NBA fanbases with a trade. The only arena where he won’t get these chants is Crypto.com Arena, as Lakers fans chanted ‘Thank You, Nico’ when they played the Mavericks in February.
Harrison may not have liked that, but that’s still better than hearing people calling for you to get fired. Those chants have been breaking out at all sorts of places in Dallas recently, too, like Medieval Times.

We have also heard these chants at Dallas Stars games and, of course, at Mavericks ones. Fans were getting away with these chants at soccer and hockey games, but not at Mavericks ones. A fan was even ejected for mouthing ‘Fire Nico’ when he appeared on the jumbotron.
While Harrison appears to have become the most hated man in Dallas, he isn’t at risk of losing his job. He’s here to say, whether Mavericks fans like it or not.
