Klay Thompson On If He And Stephen Curry Ruined Basketball: “We Kinda Flipped The Basketball World Upside Down.”

As the two greatest shooters in basketball history, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson have changed the game of basketball forever. If you ask some critics, they will tell you that the “splash brothers” actually ruined the game by ushering in a 3-point revolution that has made the NBA almost unrecognizable from its origins.

If you ask Klay, however, he thinks that he and Steph have actually changed things for the better. Here is what he said in a chat with Malika Andrews:

“Bombing away from three like we do kinda flipped the basketball world upside down, and I think we’re seeing that at all levels of basketball now, which a lot of people say it’s ruined the game, but I think it kinda just been an innovative aspect of the game, to be honest,” Thompson told Malika Andrews of ESPN.

“I’ve heard Tiger Woods say that he visualizes every single shot he shoots on the golf course. I try to apply the same method to basketball.”

No matter how you feel about Klay and Steph, their track record speaks for itself. Together, they’ve won three championships and are on the verge of winning another this year.

Years ago, when it all started, nobody could have imagined the success and prosperity they would enjoy.

“We really didn’t get to know each other until about our third year in the league,” Thompson said, via NBA on ESPN. “Both very quiet. And I think this trip with USA Basketball to Spain, we played a lot of golf, we drank some sangria in Barcelona. I think he’ll say the same, but that summer of 2014 kind of glued us together and we just became good friends after that. There’s a lot of things we do on the court that just seems to be in sync with each other. We don’t even think about it, it’s just like second nature.”

It is undeniable that the Splash Bros have changed things for good. The way they shoot the ball has opened up the court for everyone and, now, long-distance shooting has become one of the most important aspects of the game.

Klay Thompson is not shying away from that. In fact, he probably wouldn’t want it any other way.
