Draymond Green got a lot of praise for helping the Golden State Warriors win Game 2 of the NBA Finals. His excellent play on defense was hailed as one of the main reasons for their win and his antics also played a part in rattling the Celtics. While Draymond might have felt like he was on top of the world after that performance, he came crashing back down after Game 3.
While we’ve always maintained that Green cannot be judged solely based on his numbers, his stat line of 2 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists is an accurate representation of how bad he was in Game 3. Green had been talking a lot after Game 2 and he is always quite outspoken on his podcast as well, which has become quite the talking point among NBA circles recently. It was even pointed out that Green had more podcast episodes than games with double-digit points, rebounds, or assists in this postseason run and Kendrick Perkins took a shot at Draymond after the game as well.

Having a podcast after high-stakes games can be quite interesting to listen to for a lot of people, but you open yourself up to criticism like this if you don’t show up on the court. The fact that Draymond doesn’t really hold back on his podcasts either doesn’t help his cause and he is going to catch some more flak for it if he doesn’t perform for the rest of the Finals.
Golden State would definitely be hoping for some improved showings from Green who has really struggled in Games 1 & 3. His only good performance so far helped them win their only game and they’ll need more of that if they are to win the championship. Stephen Curry has been great in these Finals while Klay Thompson seems to have found his stroke in Game 3 and the Warriors now need the other member of their Big 3 to step up.
