Duncan Robinson Speaks Out On Being Benched In The Playoffs: “It Sucks, Especially When You Feel That You’re Capable…”

Looking back on this NBA season, young stud Duncan Robinson spoke about his diminished role in the playoffs and the disappointment he felt about being phased out of the rotation.

According to Robinson, the challenges involved with the whole process impacted him in a big way:

“Not playing sucks, especially when you feel that you are capable and you feel that you can help win. It’s a really challenging feeling.”

Over his four-year career so far, Robinson has emerged as a key player for Miami with averages of 11.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game on 43.5% shooting.

Despite inking a 5-year, $90 million deal in 2020, Robinson struggled to shoot the ball this season, which is what led to his benching in the playoffs.

While the majority of the credit goes to the return of Joel Embiid after the injury and Harden’s return to form, another reason for it has been the poor shooting by the Heat.

They are constantly struggling from the 3-point line and the Sixers are exploiting that weakness. The surprising fact about these performances is that the Heat have a great sharpshooter on the roster, but for some reason, the franchise is adamant about playing him.

Yes, we are talking about none other than Duncan Robinson. After having a breakout year in 2020, he was rewarded well by the team. They did so by giving him a 5-year contract worth $90 Million.

Despite paying him so much money, Robinson has played just 1 minute in the second-round series against the 76ers.

Robinson, 28, is a young and talented wing who was a huge contributor during Miami’s Finals run in 2020. His play that year is why they inked him to a huge extension.

But now, questions are swirling about his future and what kind of player he can be. Let’s hope he’s able to step up and snap out of his shooting struggles as soon as possible.
