Tony Parker Would Take Stephen Curry On The Spurs Championship Team: “I Don’t Know If It’s A Great Fit, But I’ll Take Steph All Day.”

Until recently, the San Antonio Spurs were one of the best teams in the NBA. They had a stunning roster and were a dominant force in the Western Conference. Led by Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker under the coaching of Gregg Popovich, the Spurs were a constant threat to every team in the league.

During their prime, the Spurs even defeated the Big 3 of the Miami Heat featuring LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. Despite achieving so much in the league, the Spurs are never truly the first name that comes to the minds of fans when discussing the most dominant teams in the NBA.

No shot at their accolades and what they achieved in the NBA. But their style of play was pretty basic and simple. Of course, it generated results, but it was never something that excited fans a lot. Well, that could have changed if a player who was incredibly popular among the fans donned the jersey of the organization.

Recently, Tony Parker was asked if he thought any current player from the 2022 NBA Finals series would fit that description. Here’s what Parker had to say about it in an interview with Boardroom.

Via Boardroom:

“That’s a great question. I think everybody is unique, everybody’s different. Golden State, obviously with Steph and Klay and Boston, we see Jayson Tatum becoming a superstar. It’s hard to compare players to Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, or Kawhi Leonard.”

He further added, “I don’t know if it’s a great fit, but I’ll take Steph all day.”

Let’s be honest, are we really surprised that Parker chose Steph as someone he would want to play for the Spurs during their championship years? Not really.

Curry is one of the most polarizing superstars that the NBA has ever seen. Additionally, he is someone who doesn’t shy away when he has to adjust his game according to his teammates. He did so when Kevin Durant joined the Warriors, and he would have certainly managed to be a great fit with the Spurs had he been drafted or traded to them.
