Steph Curry won the first Magic Johnson Western Conference Finals MVP award after a stellar display against the Dallas Mavericks, leading his team to the NBA Finals for the 6th time in 8 years. Curry has been elite in the playoffs, with some key scoring performances and iconic moments, like the time he told the Dallas Mavericks ‘Night Night’ after burying a dagger, which fans all over the world loved.

And while the Warriors are undisputedly a dynasty with their current core, many had doubted that they would make it back to the Finals after Kevin Durant left and Klay Thompson missed a long time with injuries. Curry and his team struggled in the last 2 seasons, finishing near the bottom in 2019-2020 and then failing to make the playoffs in the 2020-2021 season.

And while there were doubters, Curry himself knew what it would be like when the team returned to full health, he gave a warning after their play-in defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies last season, saying that no team would want to face his team next year. The clip went viral recently on Instagram, considering that Curry has more or less lived up to those words, finding himself just one more series win away from his 4th title with Golden State.

“You don’t wanna see us next year.”

Fans love the statement from Curry in hindsight, with many praising him for following up on a statement that would have been ridiculed if the Warriors had failed again:

“My man was serious about it.”

“He’s ready for another ring!”

“He spoke the truth.”

“Just 4 more wins to go.”

“If the warriors win the title this year, this might be one of the most iconic quotes of all time.”

“Curry is doing all on the same team. Just like MJ… love it!!”

“Bro saw the future.”

“This quote is cold asf bruh.”

“First season back healthy and they back in the Finals.”

“Curry knew all along, where the haters at now?”

“My guy owns the West, man.”

The Warriors beat the Nuggets, Grizzlies, and Mavericks handily. No series went to 7, with two of them ending in 5 games. Curry’s prediction that no team would want to face them proved to be true, and both the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics will be worried about facing the 3-time champions in the Finals. If Golden State goes on to win it all, this quote will go down as an iconic moment in NBA history.
