Despite bowing off out of these playoffs in the Conference Semifinals to the Boston Celtics, Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to build on a resume that few can match at this point. He has already won a championship, a Finals MVP, and two regular-season MVPs, to go with a Defensive Player of the Year award and he added a little something extra to it last night.
The league announced its All-NBA teams for this season and Giannis unsurprisingly made it to the first team yet again for the fourth year in a row (2019-22). While that is an impressive feat in itself, it was also the fourth time in a row that he was unanimously voted in, which broke a tie with Michael Jordan (1996-98), LeBron James (2009-11), and James Harden (2017-19).
The Kia All-NBA First Team is made up entirely of players age 27 or younger for the first time since the 1954-55 season.

It has been a meteoric rise to the top for Giannis and it is an incredible feat to accomplish something that even Jordan and LeBron couldn’t during their illustrious careers. He was also the only player this season to be unanimously voted in and no one else came particularly close. It is quite honestly a bit crazy to think that Giannis has accomplished all that we mentioned earlier in just the last four years and you have to say that if not for that injury to Khris Middleton, he probably would be on his way to another NBA Finals this season.
He dragged the Milwaukee Bucks almost single-handedly to Game 7 against the Celtics but it was a bit too much even for Giannis to lift their under-manned squad. Rest be assured, he is going to be back with a vengeance next season and we fully expect him to extend this run of unanimous All-NBA first team selections in the years to come. This record doesn’t seem like will be possible to match once the Greek Freak is done with it.
