One of the most infamous incidents in NBA history is the gun incident involving Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton. In 2009, during a heated argument about gambling debts, both Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton had unloaded guns in their locker room.

Both players were punished, and the incident is still talked about whenever they are brought up. But Arenas revealed that he and Crittenton are on good terms, and still speak regularly despite the latter being in prison.

Gilbert Arenas spoke recently about Javaris Crittenton and his relationship with him now, years after the gun incident. Arenas revealed that the two settled their differences soon after the incident.

In fact, Arenas even helped Javaris get some medical help for his mother, as he wasn’t able to help her after being arrested. He noted that he and Crittenton speak on a weekly basis, and they just talk about the game whenever they get the change (14:24 onwards):

“His mother needed, because he wasn’t getting NBA checks anymoe. So his mother needed surgery for her neck, so he asked me. I took care of him, because nobody wanted to f*ck with him at the time. I’ll send him cellphones. We talk once a week. It’s just like when we were teammates. ‘Man, what do you think about this series? What do you think about this series?’ … We just talk about basketball.”

Crittenton was sentenced to prison in 2015, and he’s currently serving a 23-year prison sentence. But Arenas has not cut ties with him since then and keeps in constant communication with him.

Arenas was the leader of the Washington Wizards for a large portion of his career and helped turn them into a regular playoff team during his best years.

Gilbert Arenas was the predecessor to players like John Wall and Bradley Beal who became the faces of the Wizards franchise in the 2010s. But Gilbert Arenas was a cult favorite who became extremely popular due to his incredible play in the 2000s.
