The Philadelphia 76ers might be one of the best teams in the NBA this season, but it’s Joel Embiid that makes them special. The All-Star big man has proved his worth over and over again throughout the regular season.

He did the same in the 76ers’ Round 1 series in the 2022 Playoffs. After playing phenomenally in the first round, fans expected the same level of performance from Embiid in the second round. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old was sidelined in the first two games of the series due to an injury.

Embiid’s absence was clearly felt by the Sixers in the two games as they lost them both and were down 2-0 in the series. Fortunately, the 76ers’ big man returned to the roster and instantly uplifted the team.

While he is not scoring as much in the last two games, his presence on the court has certainly helped his teammates. As a result, the Sixers have now tied the series at 2-2 and are now in a perfect position to take the lead in Game 5.

Seeing such amazing performances from Embiid, most fans are already certain that he should be named the 2022 NBA MVP. NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins has been quite vocal about his support for Embiid and did the same once again on Twitter. This time around, the renowned analyst has also thrown shade at Nikola Jokic, who is a close contender to winning the second MVP of his career.

“Eye Test = Joel Embiid for MVP!!!

Analytics = Jokic for MVP!!!

I’m glad I rolled with the EYE TEST on my vote.

Carry the hell on…”

While the stats for the postseason aren’t accounted for when giving the MVP award, Embiid has definitely outperformed the Joker when it matters the most. Jokic’s Nuggets have already been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

On the other hand, Embiid and co. still have a shot at possibly winning it all this season. Regardless, most people believe that Joel Embiid will win the MVP award. Even his rival, Kevin Durant, has picked Embiid to win the honor. We will find out soon enough who will win the award.
