Luka Doncic is one of the best point guards in the league. He is a juggernaut on the offensive side of the ball, and there is no questioning his status as a top-tier superstar in this league. Despite his individual brilliance though, the Dallas Mavericks are down 0-2 to the Phoenix Suns in their second-round series.

One of the reasons that the Dallas Mavericks have been unable to win a game in this series thus far, is due to the lack of good offensive production from the other players next to Luka Doncic. Jason Kidd has even publically claimed that the team can’t win with just Luka Doncic “scoring 30 a night”.

He had a great game, but no one else showed… We can’t win with just him out there scoring 30 a night, not at this time of the year.

The next two games for the Dallas Mavericks will be at home, and if they are able to win both those games against the Phoenix Suns, then the series will be tied 2-2. It is definitely a tall task to beat the best regular-season team in the league two times in a row, but they will definitely help from their role players if they are to do so. Even the greats need help to win playoff series, and Luka Doncic definitely can’t do it all by himself.

Jalen Brunson notably had an elite series against the Utah Jazz but has struggled against the Phoenix Suns thus far. The Dallas Mavericks will definitely need him to have more great scoring nights if they are to get past the second round. Notably, some thought that the Dallas Mavericks could upset the Phoenix Suns this year in part due to Jalen Brunson’s stellar play.

That is not to say that Jalen Brunson is the only one who needs to step up. If they are to beat the Suns, it will take the whole team as a whole playing better. The Mavericks don’t necessarily have the star power besides Luka Doncic to match up with the Suns’ star backcourt, but with a team effort, winning against the Suns is definitely possible.
