Ben Simmons was one of the biggest stories in the NBA during the 2021/22 season and not precisely for the best reasons. The point guard started the season with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he cited mental health issues as the reason why he couldn’t play with the team.

Then, after getting traded to the Brooklyn Nets, Simmons teased a return more than once, only to remain sidelined for the entire season and, according to some people, gave up on his team once again.

He has earned heavy criticism for his behavior in the last year, disappointing people with his antics. However, there was somebody who apparently saw this all coming even before Simmons made it to the NBA.

Instagram page ‘winshares’ recently shared a dunk post showing a 2016 post from a fan blasting Simmons and predicting that he’ll get tired of the team and will mentally separate from them.

“Ben Simmons OBVIOUSLY does NOT want to be a Sixer. He wants to go to LA where he thinks the market is better for him. I personally am not a Simmons fan at all and I want them to take Brandon Ingram at #1 because he’s an all around better player. Simmons will get drafted by the Sixers, throw a hissy fit and mentally separate himself from the team like he did at LSU. He’ll probably not re-sign in 4 years. He’s an ungrateful, spoiled brat that was silver spoon fed through life who feels like he’s entitled to whatever he wants.”

Seven years after that post, Simmons did all of that, and even though he’s on a different market now, the Australian player keeps upsetting people with his behavior, and it’s safe to say that his tenure didn’t start the best way in Brooklyn. Perhaps next season everything will be better for Simmons, but right now, the situation looks complex for him.
