Ben Simmons Uses Old Tweet From Fiancée To Fire Back At Critics: “Keep My Name Out Of Your Nasty Mouth”

Ben Simmons just finished his 2021/22 NBA season last week. He didn’t play a single game despite being part of two contenders, the Philadelphia 76ers and then the Brooklyn Nets. The point guard cited mental health issues as the primary reason why he didn’t suit up with Philly before blaming his back injury (and connecting that to his mental health issues) for not joining the Nets on the court.

After he backed up from his return during Game 4 of the first-round series between the Nets and Celtics, Simmons received a lot of criticism, even from those who were his supporters. It seems like the Australian has had enough of the bad comments and fired back at the critics but using an interesting strategy.

Simmons found an old tweet from his fiancée Maya Jama and retweeted it, sending a clear message to the NBA world.

“Keep my name out your nasty mouth,” a tweet from 2018 reads.

Ben is now trying to find his way back to the court after not playing for almost a year. The former Rookie of the Year has been heavily criticized for the lack of improvement in his game, and also the collapse he had against the Atlanta Hawks last season. After that, Simmons only got bad words from everybody within the community.

Perhaps next season could be the one where he redeems himself, but right now, things don’t look that promising for the player. Meanwhile, he’s spending time with Jama, trying to recover to help his team in the 2022/23 season.

The Nets have underperformed in each season since they signed both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. It’s time to step up or their star duo will be considered a bust after all the hype around them. Simmons can be the key for them, but we need to wait and see if he finally comes back next campaign.
