The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the L.A. Clippers 108-102 in what was a brilliant outing for the men in purple and gold. The team extended their winning streak to six games in a row, as they went on to secure the second seed for themselves as the Nuggets lost to the Celtics earlier in the day.

Luka Doncic had yet another great game for the Los Angeles Lakers, putting up 29 points (9-17 FG), six rebounds, nine assists, and two steals. LeBron James had yet another timeless performance, despite struggling to shoot the ball with 17 points (6-17 FG), five rebounds, nine assists, two steals and one block. Dalton Knecht came off the bench with a strong statline of  19 points (7-10 FG), four rebounds, and two steals.

The Clippers fought hard to come back in the game, with Kawhi Leonard putting up 33 points (13-22 FG), and nine rebounds. Kris Dunn had another great outing, with 15 points (7-11 FG), one rebound, four assists, and one block. As for James Harden, he had a quiet night by his standards, with 13 points (4-14 FG), two rebounds, eight assists, and two steals.

The Lakers made it a messy game towards the end, as they squandered a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter and allowed the Clippers to make it close. But as always, LeBron James pulled off a signature block in the dying moments of the game to secure the Lakers an important win.

Fans online praised both LeBron James and Luka Doncic for their performances. Some pointed out that the Lakers made hard work of a game that they had in the bag, but celebrated their big win that has major ramifications for the conference standings.

“For a player who thrives on hate, I’m not surprised Luka is breaking his streak of poor performances against the Clippers. Hates the franchise, hates Kris Dunn, and always cooks Zubac Pure hate-ball, I love it.”

“The Lakers have arguably the greatest playmaker in history making plays off the advantages an even better current day playmaker is creating for him.. And I think that might be the most undersold part of the trade.”

“Haven’t had this much joy watching the Lakers since the 1st half of the 2020-21 season.”

“‘Checking in for Luka Doncic-who just went crazy-, LeBron James’ gotta feel like a kick to the balls.”

“LUKA DONCIC IS ABSOLUTELY VIOLATING THE CLIPPERS.  GIVE US THE TROPHY NOW!!!”

“Of course the Lakers wanted to choke tonight.”

“Went from Darvin Ham sabotaging my squad every year to securing the 2nd seed with JJ Redick.”

“Missing two starters + Goodwin and the defense is still there… JJ Redick and DFS changed my life.”

“The Lakers’ defense allows them to maintain control of games. They might blow a lead, but they can fight back in the games. Then if they have leads late they can hold on by getting just enough stops.”

Clearly, the Lakers are flying high right now, as this win gives them a 38-21 record, and puts them second in the Western Conference.

Things are clicking for the Lakers in a way we haven’t seen from them in years. And they are proving to be a legitimate championship threat for the first time since 2020.
