Tracy McGrady has apparently identified the NBA’s new face after just two seasons in the league. The Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic, and Houston Rockets icon knows a thing or two about talent, as he was one of the best players in the league during his prime, while also competing against other all-time great players.
During a recent interview with Shannon Sharpe on his ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast, T-Mac was asked who the next face of the league would be. He had to pick between four of the most excited young players in the league right now.
McGrady had to select one between Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant, Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic, Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young, and Charlotte Hornets’ LaMelo Ball. He went with the first and the last, explaining that the competition will be between them before saying that Melo would be great in a Lakers jersey.
Shannon Sharpe: “Who’s gonna be the face of the NBA in the next 10 years? I’m gonna give you Ja, Luka, Trae Young, and LaMelo Ball.”
Tracy McGrady: “It’ll be between LaMelo Ball and Ja. If LaMelo Ball can get to La-La land, cause I think he’s built for that. Like he has that personality, that moxy, like he’s built for that. I think he can be that face.”
The development of their career will play a big role in who becomes the league’s new face, and every fan is excited to see what each of these players can do on the court to get that title. This season, Ja took the Memphis Grizzlies to the second seed of the Western Conference, while LaMelo couldn’t get past the play-in tournament for the second year in a row.
The competition for being the new face of the league is huge. Besides these four, other players like Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Devin Booker, and a couple more could take the title that LeBron James has had for many years now.
