Joel Embiid has made history today, as he’s officially won the 2022 NBA scoring title. The Philadelphia 76ers big man has bagged the longed-for title after an intense fight with several superstars.

With his 30.6 points per game, Embiid secured the title, beating out Giannis Antetokounmpo (29.9 PPG) and Luka Doncic (28.5 PPG). LeBron James appeared to be the biggest threat to Embiid, but the King has been ruled out for the rest of the season, opening the door for the Cameroonian to take the championship.

Shams Charania of The Athletic has made it official that the former No. 1 overall pick has won the title, emulating what one of the most dominant centers in NBA history did over 20 years ago.

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid wins the 2021-22 NBA scoring title, the first center to lead the league in scoring since Shaquille O’Neal in 1999-2000.

Now Embiid will place his attention on the playoffs, as the Sixers finished the season as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. He’s also a top candidate to win the 2022 MVP award, competing against Giannis Antetokounmpo again and Denver Nuggets’ superstar Nikola Jokic.

Joel will hope that this first win could predict what will happen once the regular season is over, but he’s not worried about it right now. The Sixers need to figure some things out before the start of the postseason, especially with James Harden. He was brought to Philly to help Embiid win the championship and if he doesn’t step up his game, things will be incredibly hard for the 76ers.
