Andre Drummond Gets Real On His Future With The Nets: “If We’re All Being Honest, I’m Only Here The Rest Of The Season.”

NBA big man Andre Drummond was sent to Brooklyn as part of the James Harden/Ben Simmons trade that broke the internet last month.

But as the 2x All-Star explained to the media, his time in “The Big Apple” might not last very long.

The Brooklyn Nets center argued that it wouldn’t have made sense for the Nets to trade his young backup, Nicolas Claxton, at the trade deadline because he might not be around next season. “If we’re all being honest, I’m only here til the rest of the season. Who knows what’s gonna happen in the offseason?” Drummond said.

Drummond was once considered one of the best bigs in basketball. During his days in Detroit, he was a dominant force in the paint who grabbed rebounds like nobody else in the league

Over his 8 seasons with the franchise, he averaged 14.4 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game on 54% shooting.

He was traded to Cleveland during the 2019-20 campaign and things went downhill for him from there. Today, he isn’t much more than a backup big for a Nets team that already has more than enough star power.

When he becomes a free agent this summer, it’s likely that Drummond will be on the move again as the Nets can only offer him so much.

Until then, there is still hope he can help bring them a Championship. Amid what has been a rough season for the Nets, the returning health of their core players has put them in a position to succeed in the playoffs.

Their victory is far from guaranteed, but there aren’t many other teams in the East who can handle them at full strength. It will be interesting to see how it concludes for the Nets and for their veteran big man.
