Shannon Sharpe is well known for being a LeBron James fan, always making cases for the King to be the GOAT over Michael Jordan and any other player who can be a threat to James’ being the greatest player of all time.
Whenever something’s hot regarding the GOAT debate, the former NFL player-turned-analyst will touch on that topic. Recently, he reacted to a hypothetical scenario that put Michael Jordan as the ultimate scorer in NBA history.
After our Aaditya Krishnamurthy wrote that MJ would have over 41K points if he played the same number of games LeBron has played, Legion Hoops shared the article with many fans.
If Michael Jordan played the same amount of games as LeBron, and kept his same averages on the Bulls, he’d have 41K points.

The piece got a lot of attention on social media and Sharpe took notice of that. The 3x Super Bowl winner had a big response to the hypothetical scenario, implying that it’s easy to say things based on ‘ifs,’ which happens a lot around the NBA community.
“IF* Shannon Sharpe had as many shares in Tesla as Elon Musk, he’d have 266 billion dollars,” Shannon responded.

This is obviously a sarcastic comment, with Shannon explaining that it’s everybody can do anything based on hypotheticals, but the fact is that LeBron has scored more points than Jordan.
The King recently surpassed Karl Malone and became the second-highest scorer in NBA history, only trailing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar now. He could surpass KAJ next season and many think that, when he does it, he’ll be the undisputed GOAT.
Shannon already believes it, but if Bron overtakes Kareem, he will have a bigger case for James. We’ll never know what would have happened if MJ never took years off and kept his averages. He would have surpassed the 40K points barrier. We’ll never know that and not everybody likes these hypothetical scenarios.
