Jason Williams Says Michael Jordan Wouldn’t Be As Great As He Was In The 90s If He Played Today: “I Think He’d Be Great, Be An All-Star For Sure, But Not The Michael Jordan That He Was Back Then If That’s Fair To Say.”

Jason Williams has gotten used to making bold claims in recent times, and he doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. The former NBA player has discussed several topics, giving some hot takes in the process.

A couple of weeks ago, he said Kobe Bryant wasn’t a top-5 Los Angeles Lakers player of all time, only to clarify that he did think Kobe was the Lakers and the greatest player to don the Purple and Gold jersey.

Moreover, he touched on the differences between today’s NBA and the one we had 20 and 30 years ago. More specifically, he said that Michael Jordan had an easier way to score back then while claiming that LeBron James wouldn’t have had any issues dealing with the ‘Bad Boys’ Detroit Pistons.

Now, he tried to explain how MJ would have fared if he played in this era. For Williams, Mike would be an All-Star, but not as great as in the 90s (5:14).

“Obviously, he’s going to be great,” Williams said. “I mean, don’t get me wrong. But I think it would be a little harder for him now because like you said the defenses have changed, and now he’s going to have three guys on the same side of the floor when he has the ball on the wing, whereas back in the day you just had one guy.

“Anybody in the NBA is going to beat anybody one on one, let alone Michael Jordan. I think he’d be great, be an All-Star for sure, but not the Michael Jordan that he was back then if that’s fair to say.”

NBA fans are now learning about Jason Williams because of his hot takes. He was one of the flashiest passers of all time, but his recent remarks are hotter than whatever pass he did during his career. This is not the first time he’s stated that Jordan would play below his standards in the league. Back in 2020, he even stated that LeBron James was the GOAT over MJ because he could do the things that Michael never did.

Williams has a strong opinion on this GOAT debate and where Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant belong on his all-time list. They are quite controversial sometimes, but nothing will make him change his mind on all these topics.
