The 2022 MVP race is a hot one in the NBA. Many players have made a strong case for the award, but only two or three can actually win it at this point. Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo appear to be the biggest favorites to win the coveted prize, but everybody has a favorite when it comes to the MVP.

Recently, Kevin Durant made his choice about this always controversial topic. The Brooklyn Nets superstar revealed his top 3 for the trophy, and his favorite right now, going with a dangerous Eastern Conference rival.

Talking about not being in the MVP conversation right now, Durant explained that he’s not frustrated. He’s well aware of his quality and knows that people will praise him, even if he’s not an MVP candidate for many others.

“No it’s not frustrating,” Durant admitted, via Dave Early of Clutch Points. “I’ve experienced what it’s like to win MVP and that doesn’t validate me as a player. I mean I know what I can do. It’s always great to get some home fans, some hometown love, and for fans to recognize you as one of the best players in the league. But nah, I wouldn’t say that I’m pissed off or mad that I got — it’s just part of the game and — but I understand the type of player that I am.”

Is KD frustrated he won't win MVP cause of his knee injury?

KD selected Joel Embiid, DeMar DeRozan, and Ja Morant as his top 3. All these players can aspire to win the award this campaign, but Durant went with the Philadelphia 76ers superstar, whom he had a back and forth a couple of days ago at Wells Fargo Center.

“If I had to take a guess, I will go, it’s between Joel Embiid, DeMar DeRozan, Ja Morant for me, those are my top three,” Durant said. “And I’ll probably go Joel. It’s, I mean [Nikola] Jokic, you could throw Jokic in there, but I’ll probably go Joel. I mean there’s so many players playing at a high level man, so like I said the other day, league’s in a great place.”

This debate will get hotter as the weeks go by. We have some serious candidates ready to take over the league and confirm they are the best players this season. The 3-man race, for many people, includes Embiid, Jokic, and Antetokounmpo, but others have different opinions.

This last month of the regular season will define who finally gets the win, and we’re ready to enjoy some great basketball as not only these three, but other players try to secure the coveted prize.
