Carmelo Anthony Reacts To James Worthy Calling Out The Lakers: “He’s Earned The Right To Have An Opinion. I Don’t Totally Disagree With Him.”

The Los Angeles Lakers continue to disappoint their fans after a shocking defeat against the Houston Rockets. The game might have gone to OT, but after the regulation time was over, it was all a Houston Rockets show.

As a result of this loss, the Lakers have now dropped to a record of 28-37 and hold the 9th seed in the Western Conference. Moreover, the Purple and Gold have won just two out of their last 10 games.

Such poor performances from a team that was expected to be a prime title contender is truly surprising. Following this embarrassing defeat at the hands of the last-placed Rockets, many criticized the team. Among them was Lakers legend James Worthy.

“I thought the Lakers played well enough to win in 4 quarters, except they missed a lot of free throws… They moved the ball, they had 25 or so assists. To me it looks like… at the beginning of the season, there was a lot expectations of this team to win. And I think they are at a point where they know they’re not going to meet those expectations. Even without AD and the injuries and all that, it’s not an excuse. They should be better than this. All the things that they’ve experienced, injuries, protocol. They still should be somewhere around 6 or 7 in my opinion. They didn’t start out the season serious, with preseason, they were waiting around. Now I think they realize they can’t win.”

Lakers veteran Carmelo Anthony reacted to this criticism from Worthy, but not in a way many would have expected. Melo said:

“I respect James to the utmost. That’s his opinion, man. He’s been around this game a long time. He’s earned the right to have an opinion. I don’t totally disagree with him.”

Melo on James Worthy's comments on Spectrum:

"I respect James to the utmost. That's his opinion, man. He's been around this game a long time. He's earned the right to have an opinion. I don't totally disagree with him."

Considering the Lakers are already on thin ice, this defeat further worsens their chances of having a decent postseason, if at all. Lakers superstar LeBron James is well aware of that fact as he talked about what the team’s problem is this season.

Can the Purple and Gold still make a miracle comeback? The chances of it happening are certainly low.
