LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers had a blast against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night, dismantling the now 3rd seed in the Western Conference standings behind an incredible performance by the King.

James went off with a season-high 56 points, leading the Lakers to the 124-116 win. It was a great night for the Purple and Gold, although LeBron took all the attention from fans and the media.

Magic Johnson was happy with his team’s performances and took to Twitter to praise another player that helped the Lakers win. Russell Westbrook wasn’t as spectacular as James, but he contributed to the victory in different ways to secure an important result for his team.

The legendary point guard didn’t forget about Russ and sent him a big message on social media, showing his happiness with Brodie’s performance.

I am so proud of Russell Westbrook! He was a big reason why the [Lakers] beat the Warriors, scoring 20 points tonight. That’s how the Lakers need him to play night in and night out! He played hard, was aggressive, and made good decisions on the court.

Amid a tumultuous season for the Lakers, Westbrook has received plenty of criticism from fans and media members alike. Many people urged the Lakers to trade him before the 2022 deadline. The front office didn’t make a move involving the player, and Russ will stay with the Lakers for the remainder of the season.

If he can find the consistency the team needs to compete and make the playoffs, perhaps he will return to the squad next season. As of right now, the Lakers are a wandering team, and a win against the Warriors could be the beginning of something. However, we need to wait and see if they can turn things around in the next couple of weeks.
