Steph And Ayesha Curry Get Booed In Cleveland During All-Star Weekend

Steph Curry is as close as a player can get to being appreciated by fans across the NBA regardless of their loyalties. Curry regularly hears MVP chants in opposition arenas and fans of the game love nothing more than watching him go nuclear from three-point range, even if it is sometimes against their teams. So it’s not often that he hears boos from an arena but that’s exactly what happened in Cleveland.

Steph and his wife Ayesha were roundly greeted by a chorus of boos at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse during NBA All-Star Saturday Night. The Currys were simply promoting their new game show, ‘About Last Night’ at the event but were greeted with an absolute chorus of boos throughout their announcement by the unforgiving crowd presumably filled with Cavaliers fans.

It’s easy to understand why there were so many boos, Curry is the face of the Warriors franchise that enjoyed an incredibly intense rivalry with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2010s. The two franchises met in the NBA finals 4 seasons in a row, with Golden State emerging as victors on 3 of those occasions. Considering that the Cavs could have enjoyed multiple championships instead of just 1 if not for Curry and his teammates, this type of reception is to be expected.

The boos are unlikely to bother Curry too much considering that his Warriors team has been doing well this season and he has had an MVP-level campaign before his slump in recent months.

It seems that Steph was almost enjoying them, which isn’t surprising since they are probably a reminder of all the championships he has won. Things might turn out different during the All-Star Game itself if Steph puts on a show, but some more boos are likelier than not at that time as well.
