Anthony Davis has already missed almost half the season with various injuries over the past few months. Apparently, he’s set to miss even more time.
Per The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Lakers big man has suffered a mid-foot sprain and will be re-evaluated in a month.

In a season that has been ravaged by frustration and disappointment, the return of Davis was supposed to help get the team back on track. He is, after all, one of the NBA’s best players, and his impact on both ends of the floor makes the Lakers considerably better.
Sadly, his return only provided a taste of full health for the squad, and they will have to look to someone else (Russell Westbrook perhaps) to carry the load.
“Russell Westbrook has to step up,” said Kendrick Perkins on AD’s latest injury. “We keep talking about it, but here’s his time to shut up all the haters, all the people that said, ‘he has lost it, he’s on the decline.’ It’s his time! I wanna see some 30 point nights, I wanna see him and LeBron James be able to co-exist. He has no excuse whatsoever, AD is out of the picture he has to elevate his game. That’s what’s up for the Lakers.”
A four-week timetable could mean that Davis returns by mid-March, which is just in time to get into form before the playoffs — if the Lakers make it there.
At 27-31 on the season, they sit firmly in play-in territory and risk missing out on the first round entirely if things don’t go their way.
It will be an absolute dog fight for the Purple and Gold, no doubt, and not even Anthony Davis will be there to help see them through it. But with LeBron James and Russell Westbrook, faith remains that the 17x Champs will hold down the fort in time for AD’s return.
