Magic Johnson is a basketball icon. Johnson played for the Los Angeles Lakers for his entire career, and was one of the most dominant players in the league in 1980. Johnson brought a lot of success to the Lakers and became one of the most revered figures in Los Angeles sports history with his work.

On Sunday night, a few other Los Angeles icons made some sports history, but not by playing. Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre performed at the Super Bowl for the half-time show, along with Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige. It was an iconic performance in LA, truly celebrating the best musicians from the city.

Recently, Magic Johnson took to Twitter to celebrate their iconic performance by sharing a picture with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and Eminem from years ago, when all 4 artists were part of Dr. Dre’s ‘Up in Smoke’ tour, which was the biggest music tour in the world at the time.

Dr. Dree, Snoop Dogg, and Ice Cube are considered icons in the West Coast hip-hop scene, as all three rappers were pivotal in the growth in the popularity of rap, especially from Los Angeles. All three are legends of music, and supremely important and influential in LA.

As for Magic, he was the defining star for the Los Angeles Lakers across the 80s and 90s. Along with Kobe Bryant, Magic is considered the greatest player in the history of the franchise. The success he brought to the franchise has made him a beloved figure across the city.

This picture includes some of the greatest figures in Los Angeles history, as they helped the popularity of the city in many ways. Clearly, Magic wanted to pay tribute to these artists for the legendary performance they put on at the Super Bowl halftime show.
