There has been a lot of talk about LeBron James potentially passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record. There is no doubt that this would be an amazing achievement for the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

Going into the Lakers-Warriors game, LeBron James needed 19 points to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most combined career points. Twitter page @bronhistory also noted that he’s played 182 fewer games than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to get to this point.

As of this moment in time, LeBron James has officially passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in points after a basket against the Golden State Warriors. This is an amazing accomplishment for the veteran forward.

It is clear that LeBron James is one of the greatest players of all time, and this record simply adds more to his legacy. Many have compared his impact to that of Michael Jordan. Shaquille O’Neal once commented on LeBron James’ GOAT case, and claimed that if he passes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in points, everybody will have to “shut the hell up”.

“I don’t like having this conversation because I actually know all these guys… I think this is LeBron’s plan, he wants to pass Kareem. Because if he passes Kareem in points, we all got to shut the hell up.”

LeBron James is still playing at a high level on an individual level, but thus far, the Los Angeles Lakers haven’t been able to win enough games to get out of a play-in spot. They also didn’t make any moves at the trade deadline, though they have been linked with signing Goran Dragic once he gets bought out. Hopefully, they are able to acquire some pieces that help their issues.

The Los Angeles Lakers-Golden State Warriors game is not yet over, but it has been a good matchup thus far. It remains to be seen who wins, and hopefully, the Lakers are able to pull off the win on a historic night for LeBron James.
