Garnett completed 14 seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves and collected spectacular individual awards as a member of the franchise including a league MVP in 2004. 10. Serge Ibaka – 14.2 PPG
(4 Seasons, 2017-2020)
One of the best shot-blockers of his era, Serge Ibaka made his name for the Oklahoma City Thunder when he led the league in blocks twice and finished with an average of 2.5 BPG during 7 years with the franchise. But after a brief stint with the Orlando Magic, Ibaka was acquired by the Toronto Raptors in an effort to solidify their paint defense.
The big man’s acquisition proved to be significant because he put up 14.2 PPG, 7.4 RPG, and 1.2 BPG over 4 years with the team. The Congolese defensive player was also a critical part of the Toronto Raptors squad that won the NBA title in 2019, as his experience and defense helped boost the team across the depth chart.
9. Pascal Siakam – 14.9 PPG
(6 Seasons, 2017-2022)
Known as “Spicy P”, perhaps no big man was expected to become an All-Star for the Raptors like Pascal Siakam did. Drafted No. 27 overall, Siakam blossomed into an All-Star player during the 2020 season, one year after winning the championship with the Raptors behind Kawhi Leonard. A versatile big man, Siakam has been a great servant for Toronto.
During the 2019 championship season, the big man won Most Improved Player of the Year by putting up 16.9 PPG and 6.9 RPG from averages of 7.3 PPG and 4.5 RPG a year prior. Showcasing scoring ability, Siakam was arguably the second-best player for the Raptors during the title run. Having made the All-Star Team in 2020, Siakam has a lot more to accomplish in his career.
8. Andrea Bargnani – 15.2 PPG
(7 Seasons, 2007-2013)
While it would be wrong to suggest Andrea Bargnani was a bust as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, he never played up to the level of being the best-drafted player. The Italian big man was coveted for his ability to space the floor, and he was certainly very good in that regard. He did make the All-Rookie Team, putting up 11.6 PPG and 3.9 RPG while shooting 37.3% from three.
Bargnani would have his best season in 2011, putting up 21.4 PPG and 5.2 RPG while attempting nearly 18 shots per game. The Italian power forward/center never showcased the ability to be a consistent rebounder, which is why his stint with Toronto was rather underwhelming despite being a solid scorer and shooter.
7. Walt Williams – 15.3 PPG
(2 Seasons, 1997-1998)
After making the All-Rookie Team in his rookie season, Walt Williams was a consistent small forward throughout his career. Capable of stroking the three and scoring the ball at an above-average rate, Williams was a solid contributor for the Toronto Raptors as well. After playing for the Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat, Williams would join the Toronto Raptors in the 1997 season.
The forward averaged 16.4 PPG in his first season, nailing 40.0% of his threes and averaging 42.7% from the field. The following season, Walt Williams would move yet again as he only completed 28 games and 16 starts for the Raptors before joining the Portland Trail Blazers. During those 28 games, Walt averaged 12.4 PPG which took his overall record for the Raptors to 15.3 PPG.
6. Jalen Rose – 16.2 PPG
(3 Seasons, 2004-2006)
After making the All-Rookie Team and later winning Most Improved Player for the Indiana Pacers, Jalen Rose joined the Chicago Bulls where he would put up career-highs in scoring (23.8 PPG, 22.1 PPG). After a 3-year-stint with the Bulls, Rose became a member of the Toronto Raptors.
The versatile swingman had his best season with the franchise in 2005, where he put up 18.5 PPG on 39.4% shooting from three. Jalen Rose showcased an ability to be above-average at scoring the ball and also creating for others. Unfortunately for Rose, his most “memorable” moment came when Kobe Bryant scored 81 points on him and the Raptors in 2006.
5. Kyle Lowry – 17.5 PPG
(9 Seasons, 2013-2021)
Playing solid basketball with the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets before joining the Raptors, nobody expected much from the 6’0” point guard. But Lowry blossomed into an All-Star and championship-winning point guard with Toronto, becoming one of their greatest-ever players through hard work and consistency.
Lowry made 6 straight All-Star teams with Toronto between 2015-2020 and even made an All-NBA Team in 2016. Lowry’s best season came in 2017 when he put up 22.4 PPG and 7.0 APG while shooting 41.2% from the three-point line. Of course, Lowry was one of the best players on the team that won it all in 2019.
4. Damon Stoudamire – 19.6 PPG
(3 Seasons, 1996-1998)
Drafted No. 7 overall by the Toronto Raptors, the 5’10” point guard played very well for the franchise in his rookie season, winning Rookie of the Year while putting up 19.0 PPG and 9.3 APG. The point guard would go on to put up 20.2 PPG and 8.8 APG the following season, earning respect as a guard who played bigger than he really was.
Stoudamire only played 49 games with Toronto in his third season, putting up 19.4 PPG and 8.1 APG during that span. Despite scoring the ball at a high level and being a capable playmaker, Stoudamire was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers where he would have a ton of success in his career. Nonetheless, the miniature point guard was a great scorer for the Raptors over 3 seasons.
3. DeMar DeRozan – 19.7 PPG
(9 Seasons, 2010-2018)
Drafted No. 9 overall in the 2009 NBA Draft, DeMar DeRozan was an extremely athletic but raw shooting guard with a ton of upside in his game. Fortunately for the Raptors, the franchise built an All-Star scorer out of DeRozan. The athletic shooting guard went from scoring 8.6 PPG to 17.2 PPG in his second season, kicking off a great career with the franchise that included 4 All-Star Teams.
DeRozan’s career was short-lived just before the franchise won the NBA title in 2019 because he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard. Even if DeMar’s career with the Raptors never resulted in an NBA title, there is no question that the All-Star was one of the best players in Raptors’ history and there is no doubt about that.
2. Chris Bosh – 20.2 PPG
(7 Seasons, 2004-2010)
Hall of Famer Chris Bosh built his legacy during the first 7 seasons of his career with the Toronto Raptors, taking his talents to Maimi to win 2 NBA titles. But a 19-year-old Chris Bosh averaged 11.5 PPG and 7.4 RPG while making the All-Rookie Team in his first season, becoming a consistent 20 PPG scorer over 5 seasons. As a shooting power forward with number-one option capabilities, Bosh is one of the best players in Raptors history.
Chris Bosh made 5 All-Star Teams with the Raptors, including an All-NBA Team in 2007 when he averaged 22.6 PPG and 10.7 RPG. Drafted No. 4 in the 2003 NBA Draft, Bosh joined an iconic class of talent which included LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Carmelo Anthony. Bosh never had a chance to win Rookie of the Year, but he became an all-time great Raptors star.
1. Vince Carter – 23.4 PPG
(7 Seasons, 1999-2005)
By far the most impactful player in Toronto Raptors history, Vince Carter put the franchise on the map. Before Vince Carter, nobody regarded the Raptors as a global factor in basketball because of the fact they were based outside of America. But the greatest dunker of all time broke new grounds in Toronto, winning Rookie of the Year by putting up 18.3 PPG in his first season. For 6 straight years after that, Carter made 6 All-Star Teams.
Vinsanity’s scoring record with the Raptors is truly amazing after his rookie season: 25.7 PPG, 27.6 PPG, 24.7 PPG, 20.6 PPG, 22.5 PPG. These numbers are great and were a massive factor in bringing the Raptors into the limelight as a destination team. Of course, Vince Carter would win the 2000 Dunk Contest which completely changed the way fans started viewing dunks as an art. Quite simply, Carter is the greatest Raptors player ever and it is by quite a margin.
