Klay Thompson’s return to the basketball court was an awesome moment for basketball fans. After two years of rehab, one of the league’s best shooters was finally back in action.

It was widely hailed at the time and, even now, players are still celebrating his return.

On Saturday night, after a win over the Brooklyn Nets, Thompson was embraced by James Harden and Kyrie Irving, who seeded thrilled to see Klay healthy once again.

In a particularly wholesome moment, Uncle Drew even asked Thompson if he could take a ride on his boat.

Thompson’s boat has become iconic in the NBA community. During his time away from the league, he was frequently seen using the thing to cruise on the water.

He even put in some effort to name the machine.

“I have a few names for it. I call it the ‘Nordic Knife’ or ‘Splash Express’. “She was made in Finland, so that’s Norwegian I think. She cuts the water like a knife, so I call her the Nordic Knife. People are like ‘why would you name your boat after a weapon?’ I’m like ‘it’s not a weapon it’s just the way she rides.’ It’s so fast. Then Splash Express is when I’m carrying my friends on board and we’re commuting.”

“Yeah, no question. Gotta go out for Fleet Week. There’s a lot of boats out there, but it’s the vibe.”

In a hilarious turn of events, it turns out Klay was actually parking his boat illegally and didn’t know until he was told by Mike Brown.

“I had to try to do that because he was doing it illegally,” said the Warriors coach. “I don’t even know what else to say on it. He was parking his boat anywhere. I’m like, ‘dude, you can’t just pull up and park your boat anywhere.’ And he was like, ‘what are you talking about?’”

“And I’m like, ‘Klay, people pay for these spots and slips and all this other stuff.’ Long story short, he started parking his boat over at the ramp and I know the people over there at the ramp. Now that’s his spot. He just pulls his boat up, parks there, walks across the street, and goes to work,” Brown said of the Warriors star.

So, that’s the story of Klay Thompson’s boat and why it has become nearly as famous as the star guard himself.

As for whether or not we’ll ever see Kyrie in the thing remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that the NBA world would love to see it.

Let’s hope Kyrie’s request gets honored.
