Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant is expected to be one of the hottest names in the NBA ahead of the trade deadline. After showing interesting things on the Denver Nuggets, he signed with the Pistons in 2020, trying to become the go-to guy in Motor City.
He’s in his prime right now and a contender could benefit from that. The Pistons are going through a rebuilding process and having Grant on the squad doesn’t necessarily fit their plans. That’s why a host of teams are looking to acquire him to have a bigger bid at the playoffs or the championship.
Grant has improved his level in recent seasons, which has earned him some attention from different squads and there are four who are actively pursuing him. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Lakers, Knicks, Blazers, and Wizards are looking to acquire Grant’s services.
Several playoff teams are pursuing Pistons star forward Jerami Grant: The Wizards, Knicks, Blazers and Lakers among others, sources said. Grant is sidelined due to a UCL injury in his right thumb but Detroit will have a vast group of suitors for the 27-year-old. Grant, who is eligible for a four-year extension worth up to $112 million this offseason, is one of the most sought-after players this trade season.
Jerami would bring interesting things to whichever team manages to land him. He’s only 27 and getting better every season. He has been heavily linked with a move to the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as Ben Simmons, which would put the Lakers on a different level.
In 24 games this season, Grant is averaging 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 41.4% from the field and 84.9% from the free-throw line. Whoever gets this man, will land a gem. He’s looking to help a contender, but it remains to be seen if he’s willing to take a seat back and be the 2nd or 3rd option.
