Dirk Nowitzki Is Proud Joel Embiid Is Using His One-Legged Fadeaway: “That’s An Honor.”

2 Min Read

Joel Embiid is one of the best big men in the league, and he is well-known for being a big man that has both old-school and new-school moves in his arsenal. He is recognized as having a dominant interior game but also has a little bit of a midrange and perimeter game.

One of the moves that Joel Embiid uses regularly is the one-legged fadeaway. The legend that is most well-known for using this move is former Dallas Mavericks big man Dirk Nowitzki, and it’s clear that this move is still as effective now as it was during Nowitzki’s era.

Dirk Nowitzki has recently commented on Joel Embiid using his one-legged fadeaway, claiming that it is an “honor” to have the Cameroonian big man adopt his move.

That’s an honor. That’s so sweet to see that he thinks that it’s a good move and a shot that he can put in his repertoir. So it’s fun to see.

Joel Embiid is one of the best big men shooters in the league, and having a go-to move like this is certainly beneficial for him. A lot of people have criticized him in the past for not always being dominant in the interior and settling for jumpers. However, it’s clear that his continuous work on that aspect of the game has increased how versatile he is on the offensive end.

The Philadelphia 76ers are the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference, and they are definitely worse without the presence of All-Star Ben Simmons. With that being said, the spectacular season that Joel Embiid is having still makes them a great playoff team. He has been compared to greats like Hakeem Olajuwon and Patrick Ewing by opposing coaches. Hopefully, we see the Philadelphia 76ers make it to the postseason at the end of the season, and there is no question that Embiid is playing at an All-NBA level this year.
