When Anthony Davis arrived at the Los Angeles Lakers, fans had high hopes for him. He was forming a dynamic duo with none other than the great LeBron James. For what it’s worth, the star duo helped the Lakers win an NBA Championship in their first season together.

But since then, it has all been going downhill for them. Last season, both James and Davis dealt with injury troubles throughout the season. This led to the Purple and Gold’s playoff run being over in the very first round.

After the underwhelming season, Lakers fans expected the team to bounce back this season and have a great playoff run too. Unfortunately, once again, the Lakers have failed to live up to expectations.

One of the reasons for the Lakers’ poor form this season is the absence of Anthony Davis. The big man is yet again dealing with injuries throughout the season. Davis’ absence has had a direct impact on the team’s form but it seems like the 29-year-old is all set to make a return.

In an interview, Davis talked about his desire to continue to play alongside LeBron James. After all, James will probably say goodbye to the NBA in the next few years.

Via The Orange County Register:

“We don’t know how long he has left in this league. Last year we both were banged up, and then this year, it’s (injuries) again but moreso me. So every day it’s closing. That’s another frustrating part. A lot of guys don’t get to play with talent like that. I have the opportunity to do so, and a lot of us do. But for me personally, I want to take advantage of that time.”

Seeing AD and LBJ play together is an amazing sight for fans. Unfortunately, due to Davis being injured for long periods of time each season, fans haven’t seen as much of the duo as they would have wanted.

Maybe that’ll change if AD returns to the Lakers just in time to be part of the play-in tournament.
