Bronny James is getting ready to go to college and then start his NBA career, but even at high school, he’s drawing a lot of attention from everybody. LeBron James’ eldest son is making a lot of noise right now, getting a lot of money in the process.
Former No. 1 ranked player Austin Rivers recently talked about this situation, seemingly throwing shade at Bronny for getting millions in NIL deals.
“We know why he [Bronny] got that. He got that because he’s the son of LeBron James,” said Austin on the Ringer NBA show. “I was the number one player in the country. Bronny’s not even- what is Bronny ranked? There was no fluctuation with me. I was one. I was number one in the country.”
Rivers, who currently plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves, claimed that if players were allowed to get these deals during his youth, he would have gotten a $60 million contract with Under Armour.
Bronny is reportedly the highest NIL earner in the country, making an estimated $7.2 million. This is already huge for a player who hasn’t even picked a college, but Bronny’s name does help him.
The 18-year-old is on his way to the NBA, as LeBron wants to share the court with him no matter what or how. He’s already getting a lot of attention, and this time, with attention comes money.
Bronny James Plays At Nike Hoop Summit With LeBron James In Attendance
Meanwhile, Bronny keeps showing his level on every platform he gets and recently made an appearance at the Nike Hoop Summit, representing Team USA. Bronny showed the way with 11 points to get a 90-84 win over Team World in a U-19 duel.
Bronny struggled a little bit to make his shots in the first half of the game, going 2-for-5 in the first half. After his father offered him some encouraging words, he played better, even scoring 7 of his 11 points in the final quarter.
This is another proof that Bronny is set to do big things in his career. It’s only a matter of time before he makes it to the pros and his family will be there to support him every step of the way. What’s next? He must pick a school to continue his amateur career, as many colleges will be happy to have him onboard.
