Baron Davis played as a point guard in the NBA for 12 years and he was one of the more underrated players of his time. He made two All-Star teams and was the main man on the ‘We Believe’ Warriors team that beat the No. 1 seed Mavericks in 2007.

During an appearance on the Knuckleheads podcast, Baron Davis was asked about the NBA player that gave him the most trouble. And he named John Stockton, another great of the game that doesn’t get talked about enough.

“John Stockton, John Stockton embarrassed me dawg, “Davis said. “Like John Stockton made me feel like, ‘Damn dawg, do I know how to play basketball?’ You know you had that moment like, ‘Sh*t, am I sorry dawg? Like what the f**k is going on?’ I’ve never been taken out of the game so fast.

“He had ripped me like twice. And not even like, rip stole the ball. Like I’m going for the outlet the wrong way, Boom… Steal. I get the loose ball, he gone. Steal… Take you under the pick, push you under the pick… He was a lot taller. When you look at him on the court on the TV, his look could be deceiving, it’s almost like how Steph Curry look.

“John Stockton though, he was so dope cuz he’d walk you all the way down to the wing. And he would walk you to the same spot, whether you pressure him or not. He knew what spot he was gonna get to, and you was f*cked when he got to the spot he wanted to get to.”

John Stockton is the NBA’s all-time leader in assists as well as steals, and both by a wide margin. The Utah Jazz point guard could never win a championship but he is easily one of the best point guards to have ever played the game.

John Stockton’s Career Achievements Show That He Doesn’t Get Enough Love

John Stockton was selected as an All-Star 10 times in his career and was also named to 11 All-NBA teams. His hard-nosed and tough style of play made him a 5-time All-Defensive Second Team selection as well. Stockton led the league in assists nine times in his career and was the steals leader twice. He cooked every team in the league by picking apart their defenses.

Some modern fans don’t like John Stockton because of some of his views, and some bring up his lack of championships as well. But his ability, endurance, and toughness were as good as any other player in NBA history and arguably the most underrated. And Baron Davis isn’t the only player he lit up during his Hall Of Fame career either, just ask Gary Payton
