Bronny James addressed his disappointing performance in the Lakers‘ Summer League game against the Rockets. Bronny noted that he would take a look at the game film and see where he’s going wrong. He added that he will continue to play as hard as he can and take open shots if he is given the chance.

“Just going to film and looking at the things I always do and things I should focus on… Always focusing on playing as hard as I can and whatever open looks I get, I’ll take them.”

Bronny James had a poor showing tonight, scoring 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. James went 3-14 from the field, and 0-8 from the three-point line, and ended a game with a plus/minus of -9. Fans of the Lakers are sure to be disappointed with his showing tonight.

James has had a tough outing in the NBA Summer League so far. In his previous game, Bronny had a flub, as he got crossed up by an ankle-breaking move by Alondes Williams of the Miami Heat.

He will need to improve going forward and use the NBA Summer League tournament to find his game and make the right plays to impress Lakers head coach JJ Redick. Bronny has been under a lot of scrutiny, which comes because of his father LeBron James, and the alleged role he played in getting Bronny drafted to the Lakers.

LeBron James Says Bronny Doesn’t Care About Critics

LeBron James spoke recently about Bronny James entering the NBA, and the mindset he has. He noted that Bronny doesn’t care about the critics, and focuses on his game. James has been able to tune out the noise about him and turn his attention to making his name as an NBA player.

“I don’t know if people really understand Bronny. He doesn’t care. I actually care a little bit. When I came in [as a rookie], I wanted people to like me, and some of the things that people were saying about me kind of bothered me early on in my career. … He doesn’t give a f**k.”

“He does not care about nobody. He doesn’t even listen to that stuff. He’s like the coolest. He’s like the complete opposite of his dad. His dad will say something [to address the critics]. Bro does not care. … Everything that’s being said about him, he really does not care.”

It is good that Bronny doesn’t let the criticism get to him mentally. But that doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t believe any of the valid and fair critiques of his performances. It is not unfair to say that Bronny has performed poorly in his first two Summer League games, so he needs to lock in and focus on getting better.

Bronny is expected to join the Lakers’ G-League team for much of the season, as he is deemed unready to be a part of the Lakers’ main roster. It will be interesting to see how Bronny develops over the next year.
