The Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark is quickly approaching mythical proportions of popularity due to her influence on the growth of the WNBA. In light of her impact on the league, Colin Cowherd shared an interesting statement, comparing the Fever guard to the likes of LeBron James and Michael Jordan. While speaking on “Herd w/ Colin Cowherd“, he said:

“An associate professor of Finance at Indiana University broke down the economic scale of Caitlin Clark, who is just a phenomenon. She generated, last year, 26.5%, as a rookie on a terrible team, 26.5% of the economic activity in the league.”

“Her stardom, not slowing down. The Fever averaged more than the Pacers did per game. Throughout the league, if she played in your town, attendance for the league rose 30%.”

“The valuation for the Fever – $90 million before she arrived. Now, $340 million. That’s a four times valuation increase. LeBron didn’t do that when he went back to Cleveland. He certainly didn’t do it going to Miami or the Lakers. MJ didn’t do that with the Bulls.”

“We’re talking one player. She’s Steve Jobs. She’s taking an insolvent company and turning it into a powerhouse.”

Clark’s monumental rise in the WNBA is nothing to scoff at. In her rookie season itself, she found herself being named among some of the best to ever play the game. The recognition she has received has been nothing short of admirable in this regard. Being compared to someone she considers the GOAT is also quite the accomplishment.

The Fever guard has had a massive impact on the game. The sheer display of skill and shooting prowess has mesmerized the audience, showing them the ideal product to draw in larger crowds to WNBA games.

The comparisons with Jordan and James are noteworthy. Considering that both players were drafted in the NBA with the intent of saving a franchise, Clark’s accomplishment with the Fever is nothing short of spectacular, especially considering that it’s only been one season.

Her averages for the 2024 season were an impressive 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists on shooting splits of 41.7% from the field and 34.4% from three-point territory.

With only one year under her belt, the 23-year-old has stacked up some impressive accomplishments. Having been named an All-Star in her rookie season, she also earned honors by being selected to the All-WNBA first team. Additionally, she unanimously won the ROTY while finishing fourth in the MVP race last season.

The Fever guard has already seen a solid start to her sophomore season. In four games, Clark has already made history by tying the WNBA record for the most 20-10 games in history, adding her 10th in only 44 games played. Unfortunately, she is expected to be sidelined for the next two weeks after suffering a thigh strain.
