Damian Lillard‘s future is a mystery to everyone at the moment, it is hard to say where he will end up playing his trade. The Portland Trail Blazers seem to have made things worse by not making a trade using the 3rd pick as far as their relationship with Lillard is concerned.

If he does move, one name has seemed more likely than any other. The Miami Heat need an offensive superstar to take them over the hump in the NBA Finals, and Damian Lillard would be ideal for them. And it seems there is serious interest the other way.

“Lillard indeed has serious interest in joining the Heat, who would surely love to pair him with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. If it reaches this point — and there’s still an ‘if’ here considering all the times Lillard chose not to ask out before — Lillard’s wishes would matter a great deal because of the enormity of his contract,” reported Sam Amick for The Athletic.

Damian Lillard is under contract till 2027 and is owed well over $200 million over the next four seasons. It will not be easy to get a deal done for him, even for the Miami Heat, and it will take serious interest from his side to get it done at all.

The match makes sense, that’s for sure, the Heat are one significant piece away from likely winning a championship based on what they have shown in recent seasons. Adding Lillard’s 32.2 points and 7.3 assists per game from last season to the mix will very much get them there.

The Miami Heat Remained Focused On Acquiring Damian Lillard

The Miami Heat have a history of getting superstars and landing the players they want, especially since Pat Riley has been there. And the team is focused on getting Lillard, according to reports

“Miami’s focus is Portland superstar Damian Lillard with the genuine belief this could be the offseason the veteran guard seeks a change of scenery, league sources tell NBA on TNT and Bleacher Report.”

Lillard turns 33 years old in less than 20 days, this is the time for him to make a change if he is ever going to. The Heat would be the ideal fit for him, neither Butler nor Adebayo needs the ball in their hands too much, and the team is also capable of finding quality players among undrafted and lesser-known players, allowing them to give up some of their young assets for Dame.
