Damian Lillard Out Of 2020 All-Star Game Due To A Groin Injury

1 Min Read

Bad news for the Portland Trail Blazers and every NBA fan that was hoping to see Damian Lillard this weekend at Chicago. The star point guard has suffered a right groin strain in the Blazers’ 111-104 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.

The Athletic’s Jason Quick relayed that Lillard has said he won’t compete in Saturday’s 3-Point Contest nor Sunday’s All-Star Game because of his groin injury, which Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes reported is “grade 1-2.”

Moreover, according to Quick, Lillard wants “somebody deserving” to take his place in the All-Star Game, and even named Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker.

The guard has missed time because of back spasms this season, but injuries haven’t been a problem for him; Lillard has managed to stay relatively healthy throughout his NBA career.

Portland will surely miss him, as he’s their leader and best player. Dame was averaging 29.7 points and 7.9 assists per game so far in 2019-20.
