The Chicago Bulls were defeated by the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament, but prior to that, they ended up beating the Toronto Raptors. Unfortunately, there were some negative aspects of that game that were not basketball related.

It was reported that DeMar DeRozan’s daughter received a lot of online threats, and had to be escorted out of the game. It is unfortunate that this happened, and clearly, this sort of conduct is unacceptable. DeMar DeRozan spoke out about this news, calling those threatening his daughter “miserable” individuals who “don’t have a life.”

“It’s crazy. It’s the world we live in. No matter how good something could be, you still got miserable people that just don’t have a life, honestly. It’s sad. All I care about is my daughter enjoying her moment.”

Hopefully, this doesn’t end up happening in the future. It is unacceptable that a minor was threatened over basketball. Luckily, no harm came to DeRozan’s daughter, and that is the only positive side of this.

This season was a solid one for DeMar DeRozan himself, as he averaged 24.5 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 5.1 APG for the Chicago Bulls. He has clearly had another All-Star level season, and it’ll be interesting to see if he can continue playing at this level until his late 30s.

DeMar DeRozan Is Likely To Stay With The Bulls Through The 2023-24 Season

DeMar DeRozan will be on the last year of his deal next year, and that has raised a lot of questions about his future. However, a report suggested that the star will finish his contract with the Chicago Bulls.

“DeMar has been pretty open that he thought he was going to the Lakers and home as a free agent two years ago and that’s where he wanted to go,” Smith wrote. “But he’s since said he believes in finishing what he started and has grown to like Chicago and the Bulls…I expect DeRozan to be with the Bulls next season.

“He becomes a rental after this season, so his value isn’t quite as high and thus I expect he finishes his contract with the Bulls.”

The Chicago Bulls could still end up changing their mind and trading his expiring contract to get something in return. This offseason will be a crucial one for them, and we’ll see what direction they pick as a franchise.
